About TideSaga
TideSaga is a personal briefing experiment. Four recurring briefs — small business, Italy & Italian-American life, AI, and New York City arts — are researched and drafted by an AI (Claude), then reviewed by a human before publishing. This page explains how that works and how to read the signals on each brief.
How a brief is made
Each brief starts as a scheduled routine: the AI searches the web against a fixed editorial template, writes the brief with an inline source link on every factual claim, and opens a pull request labeled draft. A human reviews the draft before it merges and the site rebuilds. Nothing publishes without that review — but the words you read are AI-written unless marked otherwise.
Reading the signals
Briefs carry a small set of callouts. They mean exactly what they say:
Takeaway
An editorial judgment that closes every brief — a genuine opinion, not a summary.
Unverified
A claim that comes from a single source or could not be corroborated. Treat it as reported, not established.
Highlight
Something that genuinely stands out this week. Used sparingly, in the arts roundup only.
Human
A block written or substantially rewritten by a human after the AI draft. The AI is forbidden from emitting this marker itself.
Correction
A published claim turned out to be wrong. The correction sits directly beneath the original claim and is dated.
The “% human” badge
Some briefs show a small badge like 12% human. It is computed from the Human callouts above: the share of a brief's words that a human wrote or rewrote after the AI draft. A brief with no badge is entirely AI-drafted — reviewed, but not rewritten. The badge is a provenance measure, not a quality score.
Caveats, honestly
AI-drafted news carries real failure modes: a figure can be misread from a source, a link can point somewhere weaker than the claim, an event date can go stale. The inline links exist so you can check anything that matters to you, and the Unverified flag marks where skepticism is already warranted. When something published proves wrong, it gets a dated Correction in place rather than a silent edit.
